
(Senior) Investment Manager Return Seeking Assets
What are you going to do?
Athora has developed a unique investment strategy and, in executing this strategy, we utilize our strategic relationship with Apollo Global Management. We leverage Apollo’s expertise, dedicated infrastructure and access to differentiated investment opportunities, which ultimately supports the delivery of superior investment return outcomes for our customers and shareholders.
Our return seeking portfolio seeks to support the yield of our overall portfolio whilst carefully managing exposures through strong diversification across different idiosyncratic asset risks. Of the total value invested in return seeking assets, the majority focuses on privately originated, fixed income assets, with granular allocation between sub-categories and types of collateral. A small portion is allocated towards alternative (majority towards platforms) and real estate assets, with a focus on cash-generating and downside-protected investments.
The Investment Office team consists of 20 investment professionals involved in various aspects of the portfolio and operates from the Athora Netherlands’ head office in Amsterdam.
You are (jointly) responsible for executing Athora’s investment strategy. As experienced professional you will be managing third party managers (including our strategic asset management partner), and specifically the deal origination and portfolio management processes. You will be monitoring the investment opportunities within the market and the portfolio, develop insights, conduct reviews and ensure delivery of expected financial performance. Furthermore you will be responsible for the preparation and presentation of return-seeking investment proposals and portfolio reviews to management and investment committees.
Main responsibilities:
- Conduct due diligence investigations, financial analyses, and market updates
- Prepare investment proposals and presentations for investment committee and management team
- Liaise with internal risk management, legal, finance, and operation teams on new transactions
- Maintain relationships with external parties, such as investment funds and advisors
- Contribute to the development of Athora’s investment policy
What do we ask?
- At least 7 years of experience in structuring and underwriting structured credit, fixed income and / or alternative investments, preferably in an asset management or investment banking environment
- A master degree in economics / business studies
- Strong entrepreneurial drive with developed interpersonal skills and commercial sense next to attention to detail, diligent, accurate and proactive
- Ability to work independent and as part of a multi-disciplinary team identify and analyze new investment opportunities in private credit and equity
- Excellent writing and communication skills in Dutch & English
