Assess credit risk of a major Dutch banks as Bank Supervisor at DNB.

Your work environment

As a credit risk specialist, you will be based in Amsterdam. DNB is part of the SSM, through which the ECB is ultimately responsible for supervision of all euro area banks. The ECB directly supervises the largest European Significant Institutions. Working for the SSM means that you will regularly travel abroad (e.g. to the ECB in Frankfurt) for meetings, training, on-site inspections and other activities. This will be an essential part of the job, together with an environment that offers you a good work-life balance. You will be part of a multinational and multicultural team. Your colleagues have diverse backgrounds such as economists, legal experts, certified auditors, econometricians and IT specialists. The atmosphere is open, informal and amicable, and everybody understands the importance of cooperation and teamwork.

At DNB we work in a hybrid manner. Our office in Amsterdam is our home base, the place where we meet, where we share knowledge and work (together). The starting point is that you spend at least half of your weekly working hours at the office or at a supervised institution. At the same time, there is also plenty of room to choose a workplace and -time where we can do our work best and where we can add as much value as possible. And of course we ensure that you can also work excellently at home with a laptop, telephone and a good home workplace design.

Make an impact!

Working for the Dutch central bank, you will have an impact on financial stability and on the banking sector´s ability to support sustainable growth. You will be at the centre of European banking supervision dynamics and will supervise one of the systemically important banks in The Netherlands. This is how to do that as a supervisor at DNB

You will work within the Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM), where together with your international colleagues from the European Central Bank (ECB), you will supervise a Dutch systemically important bank. As such, you will be part of the ECB Joint Supervisory Team (JST) for that bank. Within the JST, you will be one of the  specialists in credit risk.

What exactly does the position entail?

  • You will participate in risk assessments, recommend risk mitigating actions and monitor the bank’s follow-up.
  • You will have discussions with the bank's (senior) management and other staff members. You will challenge and probe your counterpart in order to identify and understand the underlying challenges.
  • You will design strategies and actions to reduce risks and to strengthen identified weaknesses in the institution’s risk management framework.
  • You will keep up to date with regulatory developments and verify the bank's compliance with regulation and supervisory expectations
  • You will identify new risks even before they materialise, by thinking ahead of the curve and outside of the box.
  • You will share your findings with your colleagues from the JST and/or within DNB through (written) analyses or presentations to facilitate decision-making about supervisory measures to be taken.

Your profile

At DNB you will be working together with dedicated professionals. You need to be decisive and have strong analytical skills. Our supervisors have an ability to exert influence and make an impact on the institutions they supervise.
